So I have some thoughts on the latest CD by James Taylor (Covers). Well, he is no stranger to singing standards/remakes/covers - however this was truly painful for me to listen. I bought it at Best Buy, opened the CD in the parking lot and put it in the player all before I put on my seatbelt because I was really excited. Before I got to the redlight I had fast forward through all 12 cuts.
Won't say it was horrible but just tired. Not worth the 15 bucks ... watch for it on Ebay or rip it from a friend.

Normally you can not go wrong with a greatest hits collection - unless you are Vanilla Ice. Sarah McLachlan provides a great retrospective of her career. She sings with intense passion and you can feel the joy or pain with each lyric. My favorite word, for some unknown reason is Vox and it leads in the number one slot. My favorite cut from this CD is Adia - though she does add two new songs that have good feelings too.Must say if you like good music - this is a great cd to add to your collection.

I have been hooked on Enigma for the past few years. It all began when I was writing the Mastodons on Parade auction and score. Have to tell you that the darkness in the music helped to produce some great visuals. Seven Lives Many Faces - the latest CD by Enigma has some upbeat sides too that gives a nice balance. A must have for anyone who enjoys something not cookie-cutter and likes original vibe music.

Re: What is in my head
Cover songs. How cool are they?!? But, they should be performed by cover bands in your neighbors garage or at the local bar. World famous, multi-platinum recording artists should leave the covers to the amateurs. I do, however, enjoy and even understand the occasional cover song by an accomplished artist as they pay homage to their roots or childhood influences. Take John Mellenkamp's version of "Under the Boardwalk" or Van Halen's rendition of "You really got me." Pick your favorite artist, chance are that at some point during their career they have done a cover or two that have been great. Why people choose to devote an entire album to covers is beyond me. Will someone kindly take the crack pipe away from Rod Stewart before he decides to butcher anymore of the classic stardards!!
