As our world continues to change (or some say evolve) the talk show is losing ground as much as the daily soap. Over the years we have lost legends like Phil Donahue, Mike Douglas, Dinah Shore, Rosie O'Donnel, Carson Daly and Merv Griffin. This year we have lost or will see the finals of Charlie Gibson, Diane Sawyer,Bonnie Hunt, Oprah Winfrey, Tyra Banks and with a little luck Jay Leno. We lost Guiding Light and will lose As The World Turns. Lost will be in it's final season. What had been staples on daytime television are giving way to the info-mercial.
As we flash back in 2009, I have looked further back to capture the name of other talk shows we have lost:
Aresnio Hall
Jack Ford
Jenny Jones
Majic Johnson
Ricki Lake
Dr. Laura
Marilu Henner
Wayne Brady
Queen Latifah
Tony Danza
Tempest Bledsoe (really, I had no idea)
Megan Mullally
Dennis Miller
Sharon Osbourne
Sally Jessy Raphael
Chris Rock
Carolina Rhea
Roseanne Barr
Pat Sajack
Alan Thicke
Wendy Williams
Keenan Ivory Wayans
Chevy Chase
Donny and Marie
The number of talk shows is dwindling leaving us with Ellen, The View, Regis and __________ fill in the blank, Glenn Beck and Nancy Grace. So many issues so few places to talk about them ...
