Last evening, after the plumber fixed two separate plumbing problems in my house, we went to dinner at Baker Street. This was the joint that formally was Damon's before the fire or before the tornado and before the tax problem. Anyway, the building has really been transformed into a very elegant restaurant. The menu was diverse enough but not too fricken crazy like a Flannigan's menu where you could eat something from every nationality and allergy in the world.

The manager is someone I know from another restaurant, where I dine often for lunch, and our waiter was a bud from my budding youth years in the school system known for farming and harvesting. It was a very welcome surprise to be warmly greeted. I had a heart beef and barley soup with a tomato base. The beef was mighty tender and the soup could have been a meal itself. My table was garnished with two different breads - one a pretzel bread the other hawaiian bread. Both found great comfort down the hatch to nestle upside the soup.

Tonight, was also the Music City Hall's Rockettes and while at dinner it was simply a countdown away from the show at the Coliseum. Mind you, this is such a challenging venue to be entertained unless it is a basketball game, a hockey game or a gun and knife show ... so while I was awaiting my dinner my mind traveled to New York. I used to do an annual one day shopping trip when we had ATA out of Fort Wayne, and boy how I miss that adventure. Makes me wish our world was not so screwy, but alas by the time I finished Macy Shopping in my mind, my Steak au Pouvre arrived. It was resting comfortably in a pool of cognac and pepper broth/gravy. Each bite was simply spicy, tender and delightful.

The race to the Coliseum was on, and I really think people forget how to drive when they are in a traffic jam. Just keep telling myself, you are going to a holiday show, be happy. Once in side, our seats were stellar, the show began a few minutes past 7. From the moment it began until the last blast of snow I was entertained. The hour and one half performance was great for kids of all ages, young and old. The graphics even had me on a virtual bus tour on New York City. The dancers know how to kick it up a notch, just like my steak! It kinda helped to get me in the holiday spirit ... but then I went outside to find I had to maneuver out of the parking lot and I think my holiday spirit dissipated as quick as platter of Mexican Marshmallows.

Well, this is the eve of Thanksgiving ... which means no one really works to hard today at work. The offices are less full than yesterday and it means someone, somewhere is freaking out how to cook a turkey. Luckily there is a 1-800 number to aid those who forgot to thaw the bird, is uncertain which side goes face down in the roaster or how long to cook a bird. Oh, are you the person who needs that Butterball hotline, (1-800-288-8372).
