In my own personal land of make believe, I think I am funny at times. Well, at least sarcastic if not funny. Well, last night was no exception as a few of us gathered first at Flannigans.
First off, this would be the last place I may pick to go dine because I am just overwhelmed by the 400 page menu of everything from soup to shrimp to sandwiches to steak to salmon to soda. I have learned early on just open to a page and put your finger on something and order it.
Second thing with this place is the sheer abundance of crap that is inside - I honestly feel I am just ten seconds away from witnessing a tornado while sitting in there - there is stuff hung from the ceiling, on rafters, on the walls, on shelving unit - you name it is front and center.
Our waitress, Amber, could not have been nicer. The food was good, don't get me wrong, it was upgraded bar food, but nonetheless, it was just a strange environment. Throughout the evening we entertained one another with stories and jokes and at times stupid puns. It was a good time by all.
We talked about what our parents thought about naming us if they did not select the name that we wear on a sticky that says "My Name Is" ... well, one lad, said Nick (which I rebuffed to say oh, like Nick O'Lodean - umm we were in some Irish pub) Anyway, the night was like that ... at least for me ... every minute - after all "I am going to be here all night!"
Next stop was Henry's and what I remembered of Henry's it was the place where everybody knows your name - yeah, not so much. I felt like I was in a different city because I did not see one person (even wait staff) that looked familiar let alone know my name. At one point I received a phone call from a dear friend from Florida and I took it outside, well my car because it was windy and rainy (like the precursor to the tornado at Flannigans!). It was so nice to catch up and speak with her. I do have to think that she probably thinks I am one of the most magnetic (for problems) person she has yet to encounter. Yet, she still takes my phone calls haha.
Overall, yesterday was a productive day. My closet is cleaned up, the house is on the mend. The Christmas tree is in a box and after having the windows opened, it felt like I did spring cleaning.
