Last night a group of us went to True Friend Tea House (to eat Burmese food not have Happy Ending Massages as the name may have had you think!).
I can say that I was up for the adventure and took it on with great glee. There were five of us in our party and when we walked into the restaurant we were greeted with all stares. The look when you enter a private room for a party (and you were not supposed to be there), or when you projectile vomit in elementary school (okay that may not have happened to many people come to think of it)... Anyway, our group was radically different than anyone in the authentic Burmese restaurant.
My meal came with a cabbage soup - not like the crazy diet cabbage soup (or so I did not think it when I ate it ... this morning ... I see the resemblance to it). It was just a clear broth with the few shreds of cabbage and some black things that were floating in it ... I did not eat them - had no clue what they may have been. Next my spicy chicken came (which became spicy pork because they were out of chicken) and the side of coconut rice. I also had hot sweet tea that is worth the drive alone. I have to says that Burmese food taste like Indian food without the hot kick and the ample offerings of bread.
All good meals come to an end, so we opted to take our show on the road and head to the Cold stone Creamery. Now mind you, this was my first visit there so I was like a kid in an ice cream store! Wow, what a fun place - I was warned in advance that they sing to you ... but luckily they didn't and this allowed me to have a great evening without any indigestion. I can honestly say that the ice cream made for a happy ending - and it was not illegal either!
